CITY OF MATI
Mati is the capital city of the Province of Davao Oriental, Philippines. According to the recent census it has a population of 122,048 people. Residents of Mati are called Matinians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mati,_Davao_Oriental). The native tribe living in Mati are called " Mandaya ". The word "Mandaya" is derived from "man" which means "first" and "daya" which means "upstream" or "upper portion of a river".
Mati, situated in the Philippines, comes to mind when thinking about a perfect holiday because of its clear see-through water, coconut trees and splendid scenery. This particular region is located on the island of Mindanao. The beach lovers can start their travel from Davao City, it takes about 3-4 hours drive. Buses and for hire vans are also traveling from Davao. Mati is the part of the far south-eastern zone. The Pacific and the Celebes Sea surround the city. It is certainly one of the hottest and happening tourist spot, when it comes to being close to the sea.

LOCATION
It is located in the southeastern most part of the Philippine Archipelago in the Island of Mindanao. It is a part of the prosperous and peaceful Davao Region. The eastern side is bounded by the great Pacific Ocean and the Southern tip is the Celebes Sea. The lowland portion of the town including the poblacion hugs the majectic Pujada Bay.
HOW TO GET TO MATI
Mati is accessible by air, land, sea transportation & Davao City serves as the entry point. It is 165 kms. from the Davao International Airport - a leisurely 2.5 hr. ride. Vans for hire are readily available at Gaisano Mall & Victoria Plaza Terminal and commuter buses regularly leaves the Davao City Terminal every 30 minutes.
